How C-Chain Fees Work
- Gas price = base fee + priority fee. The chain burns both.
- The base fee goes up when gas use is above the target. Validators vote on its minimum.
- A higher priority fee is faster only when blocks are full.
- A transaction pays for at least half its gas limit.

Since Helicon (Sep 22, 2026) a block reserves each transaction's gas limit when it is accepted, and a transaction is charged the larger of its gas used and half its limit. Before, all three were the gas used.
